    K.P. Bernicky, Pierceton, was recognized as one of the top 10 individuals in the junior college freshman division of the 1997 Mid-Continent Livestock Judging Contest in Springfield, Ill.

Joe Meggison, Brady Ostrom and Stephanie Warner, all of South Whitley, also were recognized in the 4-H/FFA division for being in the 10 highest scorers in the contest.

    POTPOURRI - Grayce Rovenstine, a resident of Atwood and a longtime member of the Kosciusko County Republican Women's Club, was named the Republican Woman of the Year for Kosciusko County during a banquet of the Indiana Federation of Republican Women at the Columbia Club in Indianapolis. She was among 42 Republican women to receive the high award.

October 30 1957

    A Bourbon youth will receive the highest award given by Future Farmers of America at the organization's national convention to be held Oct. 14-17 at Kansas City, Kan.

He is Mac Martin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Conda Martin, Bourbon. The American Farmer degree is awarded on the basis of outstanding leadership, supervised farm practice work and scholarship.

    The president's cup trophy award given by Chester Manwaring as the climax of a series of golf tournaments at the Warsaw Country Club, was won by Joe McKown, of this city. McKown defeated Merl Scoles, also of Warsaw, in the final match.
