10 Years AgoCombined Community Services, Warsaw, is launching Wheels to Work, a community outreach program to help those who need transportation. Jim Coons, CCS director, said the program is a helping hand to community members who need transportation to work, to school, to child care, to the grocery store, etc., and will empower the community, creating energy and excitement among individuals helping "someone be able to make it on their own."25 Years AgoThree Warsaw Community High School students have been selected for the All-State Choir. They were selected for the choir after an audition at Central Noble High School. They are Sara Halt, Joely Earl and Tina Walls. They will be performing for the Indiana Choral Director's Association in Indianapolis during the Teacher's Institute break.50 Years AgoEddie Johnson of Packerton purchased an old tool box at an auction sale recently, with intentions of using the box for kindling wood. After Johnson purchased the box for 10 cents, he took it home and threw it on a kindling pile. His daughter discovered coins in a hallowed-out board, part of the tool chest while tearing the box apart to burn. The coins totaled $380 in value, but are believed to be collectors' items. There were 33 gold coins, two old Canadian 5 cent pieces and one Lincoln head penny.75 Years AgoTwelve farmers have filed in the corn-husking contest which will be held on the Homer Anglin farm west of Clunette Oct. 31. Entrants are announced as follows: Wilbur Latimer, Seth Yeiter, Ben Zimmerman and Donald Zimmerman, all of Warsaw; Clyde Downs and Ray Fleischauer, both of Milford; Cuba Smith and Francis Burton, both of Claypool; Ed. Konkle, Pierceton; Joe Parker, Silver Lake; Lloyd Howard, Leesburg, and Floyd Weaver, Etna Green.
