The Association of Indiana Counties named former Kosciusko County Coroner Larry Ladd the 2005 Outstanding County Coroner for important contributions he made to county government throughout his years of public service. After serving as coroner from 1996-2004, Ladd is now the county's deputy coroner. From 1983-1995, he was an emergency medical technician for the North Webster EMS Service, becoming EMT of the Year in 1985.

High St., Warsaw, will observe the 61st anniversary of their marriage on Monday, Oct. 11. They moved to Warsaw in 1937 when Mr. Carter opened Carter's Department Store (now P.N. Hirsch Co.) They are the parents of Boyd, Bill and Mrs. Corrine Kuhn, all of Warsaw.
Joe Ettinger was high bidder of a solid walnut desk at the courthouse furniture auction Oct. 6. County Commissioners Ray Ferverda, Lawrence Butts and Fredrick Gilliam happily receive a check for $47.50. Everett Rookstool served as auctioneer.
A dedication service for the Manchester College Union building will be held Saturday, Oct. 9. Dr. Russell V. Bollinger is dean of students.Martin Bauer, manager of the local Kroger store, announced that he is all set for the fall value carnival sale to be held the next ten days. Special emphasis is being placed on the "Shop and Save with Safety" theme in newspaper advertising and display material. Store windows and the interior are decorated in bold safety stripes, and traffic signals admonish customers to "Shop and Save" instead of carrying the usual warning of "Stop and Go."
James Warren, of near Sevastopol, and David Secor, of Burket, after a month of sight-seeing in the west, have joined the U.S. Army at Cheyenne, Wyo., for three years and are now stationed in California.
