The National FFA Organization has named Shanna Krull, daughter of Hubert and Beth Krull, Milford, as a 2004 finalist for the American Star Farmer Award, one of the organization’s top honors. She will compete with three other finalists at the 77th National FFA Convention Oct. 27 through 30 in Louisville, Ky.
Caudill’s Tae Kwon Do Blackbelt Academy, Warsaw, celebrated National Martial Arts Day Oct. 16 by having a demonstration by XMA Demo Team members Zakk Moreno, Tahya Bruce, Diego Lopez, DeMarcus Gibson, Jessica Smeltzer, Cory Lopez, Jarrod Deaton, Channing Sharpe, Kent Brown and Suzanne Caudill.

 Commissioners have proclaimed the week of Oct. 15 as Lions Week in Kosciusko County. The Lions is the largest service organization in the world, and Kosciusko has 15. District governor for the 70 clubs in the seven counties of north central Indiana is C. Russell Matthews, Oswego, and other officers are Leon Ridenour, Richard Runyan, John Kibiger, Delbert Haupert and Chuck Hogan.
James Linn, 9, and Albert Deckys, 44, earned first-degree black belts at the Dharma Tae Kwon Do Academy. Aaron Wilson earned a deputy black; Nickolas Beck and Roscoe Brown moved up to yellow; David Bennet, green; Ben Christner, Buddy Hyden,Tommy and Kevin Teel, purple; Danny Warner, junior blue; Robert Farari and Karen Langford, junior red; Kyle Smith, senior red; Brian Klinger, senior brown.

 Director Milo Clase reported several structures in Warsaw and the area have been stocked with Civil Defense supplies. They include the courthouse, United Telephone, Times-Union, Warsaw American Legion, Pierceton City Hall, the Warsaw city school administration building and many other place of business.
City Councilman Joe Lessig celebrated his 73rd birthday. He continues to be a rabid and consistent follower of the Warsaw High School undefeated football squad.

Warsaw’s Studebaker auto dealer, Frank Hartsock, has purchased the Ford garage building now occupied by the Overmeyer Motor Co., northwest corner of the court house. Hartsock now occupies the large garage building at the northeast corner of the court house.
Hordes of baby crickets invaded Warsaw last night, crawling over streets and clinging to light posts and sides of buildings. Many crawled into offices and homes.
Warsaw’s Johnny Widaman will play football with college all-stars from all parts of the nation against the professional Green Bay Packers in the Cotton Bowl Sept. 4. He was recommended for the team by his Indiana University coach, B. McMillan. Widaman enters Indiana law school this fall.
