    The Lakeland Christian Academy Cougars recently won the state trophy for ACSI middle schools. The Cougars, 8-1, beat Fort Wayne Christian 4-2 in overtime in Auburn.

October 28 1984

    Merl and Lessie Montel, of Pierceton, recently returned home following a 2-1/2-week farm tour through central Europe. They visited farms in Holland, Germany, Switzerland, France and England. The Montels were also able to spend some time in London with their son, Dean, who is studying at the Ball State University London Center this fall.

October 28 1959

    How many of us would be willing to teach or study first aid from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m.? A group at the R.R. Donnelley and Sons training center in Warsaw did just that. Their instructor for the American Red Cross standard course was Mrs. Giles (Mary) Hoffer.

Midnight scholars included Ed Seeder, Larry Shively, Donald Worley, Calvin Carlin, James Zolman, Kenneth Kauffman, John Mullinix, Loren Sims, Kevin Zackary, Jerry Barney, Ronald Waggoner, James Miller, Larry Worley, John Deibel and Frank Cook.

    A musical entertainment was enjoyed recently at the Harry Dobbins home, presented by the Overall Boys, Fort Wayne. Those enjoying the occasion were: Mr. and Mrs. Ross Scott, daughters Ethna, Vera and Betty, Mrs. Marion Banghart, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Banghart and son, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Lytle and son, Donald Banghart, and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dobbins and family. The boys were accompanied by Ruth Dobbins, piano and Bud Lytle, violin.
