10 Years Ago Lake City Greenway construction on the northeast side of town, the Beyer Farm - Pike Lake to Kosciusko Community Hospital loop, should begin this fall with work on the western-most spur starting next spring, according to Warsaw city planner Jeff Noffsinger. The idea for the walking cycling trail began five years ago, Noffsinger explained to Kosciusko Development Inc. executive board members recently, when he developed the trail on paper as part of a Kosciusko Leadership Academy project. 25 Years Ago It’s A Bird – No, that hot air balloon that’s been sighted almost daily over Warsaw during the past few weeks is just a little private entertainment. It seems Father Rick Stieglitz of Sacred Heart and Jerry Hull have been gathering together for some lofty entertainment, and are willing to take along others if they want to share in the cost. 50 Years Ago Members of the Winona Lake Lions Club will be hosts at an open house to dedicate the Winona Lake Boy Scout Cabin in honor of Homer Rodeheaver, long-time friend of the young people of the area. A dedication and mortgage-burning ceremony will be held Sunday at the Scout Cabin. The ground for the construction of the Boy Scout Cabin was donated to the Winona Lake Lions by the Winona Lake town board. 75 Years Ago At a special meeting of the city council held recently with business men present, Hallie Myers, head of the traffic bureau of the state highway commission, heard objections to the routing of highway 15 off of East Market Street at Buffalo to Center Street, and then east on Center. Objections to proposed no parking at all on either side of North Detroit Street from Center north to the city limits was also heard.
