10 Years AgoSchool spirit and Olympic pride were high among Triton Elementary School students recently. Nearly 100 sixth-grade students participated in a day packed full of Olympic activities beginning at 9:30 a.m. and continuing until the end of the school day. Triton Elementary School teacher and Olympic organizer Linda Bowdler said the event takes place every year.25 Years AgoSaralee Levin, the woman who proposed the establishment of a Biblical Garden around the Levin memorial water fountain at Center Lake Park, presented slides showing the different plants in the Biblical Garden in New York City during a recent meeting of the local chapter of the American Association of University Women. Also on hand to view the slides were Warsaw Park Board members Nancy Dickerson and Velma Ball, and City Assistant Park Superintendent Jon Garber.50 Years AgoCharles A. Clemens, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roger L. Clemens, Warsaw, is among 437 freshmen enrolled at St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer. Charles is taking the liberal arts course. He was a letterman in basketball and member of the National Honor Society at Defiance High School, Defiance, Ohio.75 Years Ago Farmers of Kosciusko County will stage a county corn husking contest Oct. 31. A committee consisting of Roy T. Merkle, Ralph Tumbleson, and W.R. Hall is now selecting a farm on which to hold the contest. The corn husking is held under the auspices of the Farm Bureau, and county control associations and the rules of The Prairie Farmer magazine will govern the contest. Charles Maddox, district agriculture agent, said that the first 10 winners in the county contest who have the highest amount of corn husked will compete in the state contest, which will be held in Franklin County in November.
