    Warsaw's Walter Blackwell recently caught a Northern Pike in Big Chapman Lake. The Northern Pike measured 37-1/2 inches and weighed 10-1/2 pounds.

October 25 1982

    Troy Furnivall, who became Warsaw Community High School's fifth individual state track champion this past spring, has earned honorable mention on the third annual prep All-American track team sponsored by American Textile Manufacturers Institute and the National High School Athletic Coaches Association.

Furnivall, a freshman at Purdue on a track scholarship, captured the 400-meter dash in the IHSAA meet. He is one of nine northeastern Indiana athletes who were named to the 1,803-member honorable mention team.

    Rosalind Bristow, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Bristow, Warsaw, has pledged Alpha Omicron Pi sorority at Hanover College.

    A leadership training conference of the Baptist churches of northeast Indiana was held at the South Wayne Baptist Church of Fort Wayne on Oct. 21. Those attending from Warsaw were: the Rev. and Mrs. B.H. Truman, Mrs. Kenneth Lindsay, the Rev. A.W. Littrell and C.A. Braddock.
