Gretchen Imhoff recently was awarded an Indiana 4-H Congress scholarship at a luncheon held in the historic Indiana Roof Ballroom. Imhoff was awarded one of 29 scholarships in 4-H project areas. She has been active in 4-H through her membership in Pierceton Hayseeds 4-H club, Kosciusko County 4-H Goat Club and Kosciusko County 4-H Junior Leaders. Her parents are Calvin and Karen Imhoff, Pierceton. Philip Camden was also presented a 4-H Congress scholarship, accepted by his parents John and Vicki Camden, also of Pierceton.

Darlene Hunter was named Cosmetologist of the Year by the Warsaw Cosmetologist Association. Hunter has been employed at Hair Port for the past seven years. The award is given based on dedication and attendance.
Mrs. Thomas R. (Jo) Lemon of Warsaw was installed as president of the Indiana Lawyers Auxiliary recently as the organization of spouses of Hoosier lawyers planned its year’s activities. Mrs. Lemon also is involved in law-related education as a member of the Governor’s Task Force on Citizenship Education.

An estimated 1,000 persons witnessed the Warsaw Junior Chamber of Commerce sponsored Cole Brothers Air Show at Earl Parker Field, but the organization lost an estimated $200 in its endeavor to finance the lengthening of the 3,600-foot runway at the airport. For those in attendance, however, the air show was a success. They were thrilled when Brad Parlin made a parachute jump from 1,500 feet and landed on the runway standing up, and when another member of the troupe, Rolly Cole, spun out 31 times in a dive earthward.

Dale Ross, 16, wins the local juvenile fishing championship for this year with a catch of a 10-1/2-pound pike a few days ago at Center Lake, which he proudly displayed for The Times photo. The pike measured 36 inches in length. He landed it with a 12-pound test line, using a top water floater bait, steel pole and Winona reel after a hard fight in shallow water. The youthful fisherman is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jennings Ross, Warsaw.
