10 Years AgoWarsaw may soon be saying goodbye to Downtown Days and the Balloonfest. Warsaw Parks Activities Director Andy McCleary presented his idea to the park board of combining the two festivals. McCleary and Downtown Days coordinator Paula Bowman decided to do away with with Downtown Days and the Balloonfest and develop a new celebration called the City of Lakes Festival.25 Years AgoEveryone thinks of sitting down to a large family dinner on Thanksgiving, but no one imagines having nearly 250 people drop in for dinner. No one that is, but Ray Compton, his family and the volunteers who help him prepare and serve a traditional Thanksgiving meal to any one dropping in to the Center Lake Pavilion on Thanksgiving day. This marks the third year that the Comptons have hosted such an extravagant dinner party.50 Years AgoNancy Croop, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Croop, Warsaw, was happy to receive a note from President Eisenhower on her 10th birthday earlier this month. It was a "thank you" for the birthday greetings she sent him in October.75 Years AgoMembers of the Leesburg KilKare Klub enjoyed a delightful dinner bridge party recently, given by Miss Alta Dye and Mrs. Byrd Irwin, at the home of the latter. After dinner three tables of bridge progressed. Prizes for high score were presented to Mrs. Maune Boner; second, Mrs. Dorothy Ferverda; and third, Mrs. Goldie Metz.
