    Tippecanoe Valley junior Wendi Norton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Norton, Mentone, recently won the World Women's Christian Temperance Union Poster Contest, a first for Indiana and for the United States. Norton's poster, which placed first in the 1997 local, state and national contests in division 2, was selected by the WCTU National Board of Education to compete at the World WCTU convention.

    Max Weller, an employee of the Kosciusko County Farm Bureau Co-op, recently was named Branch Manager of the Year in the region by the Manufactured Feed Dept., Indiana Farm Bureau Cooperative Association Inc.

Weller was selected to receive this award based on his efforts to increase sales through improved customer service this past year.

October 23 1958

    Rich Kreighbaum outran a would-be Elwood tackler and went into the end zone for the extra point that fave Warsaw a 13-12 triumph with less than two minutes to play. Kreighbaum took a pitch-out and circled his own left end for the decisive point. Moments before he had hurled a pass that Fred Grose, all alone in the clear, gathered in for the tying touchdown.

    The Lambda Chi Omega sorority recently formerly initiated two patronesses, Mrs. F.C. Deggendorff and Mrs. Frank E. Sanders, and seven pledges, Mrs. Gladys Boice, Charlene Arnsberger, Elvira Hartsock, Millie Ellen Helser, Esther Miller, Helen Warner and Margaret Clark.
