Monday, Oct. 17, Warsaw Community School Board recognized Harrison Elementary School third grade teacher Katie Beehler for being nominated for the Disney Teacher of the Year award.

    2005 Homes on Parade People's Choice winners: first place, Diane and Wendell Miller, Renewal Homes; second, Lisa Harvey, Coplen Construction.

    Rebecca Ashby was named Time Services, Warsaw, Employee of the Month. She was nominated by Don Studebaker, plant manager, and Rick Hendricks, distribution manager, with Sprint North Supply. Wanda Tiltges, branch manager, presented Ashby with a gift card to North Pointe Cinemas.

25 Years

Jeremy Hepler, son of Devon Hepler, Bourbon, and Nichole Nelson, daughter of Joe and Lola Nelson, Etna Green, were crowned Homecoming King and Queen at Triton Oct. 5.

    Avis Mason, Etna Green, was honored for her 50 years with the Daughters of the American Revolution Sept. 18. Anna Lindsay and Charlotte Slabaugh accepted the 50-year pin on behalf of their mother. Regent Carolyn Weakley thanked Mason for her service to the club.

    A group of 15 U.S. flags was placed on display at the Kosciusko County Jail Museum. Each battle-scarred flag is identified with a plaque explaining its unique history, according to Chick Lamoree, spokesman for the museum.

50 Years

Mrs. Jenny Guy, Pierceton, was honored with a reception at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Helen Leedy, Pierceton, on the occasion of her 94th birthday Sept. 22. Mrs. Guy is one of the older members of the Menzie Reece unit of the American Legion of Pierceton, and they presented her with a bouquet of gladioli.

    Drum major Linda Goshert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Goshert, Route 4, Warsaw, leads the Warsaw Tiger Band when it makes its debut tonight, Sept. 24, at Fisher Field during the Warsaw-Nappanee High School football game. The band presents the flag-raising ceremony before the game and performs at halftime, when Laura Lee Hull, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Max Hull, Country Club Lane, is featured in a twirling exhibition.

75 Years

Gareth Heisler, of Etna Green, has been elected vice president of the student council at Manchester College. He has served on many school functions, including the Y.M. cabinet, also the college band and orchestra.

    Warsaw-Goshen football game here, cancelled because of the delay in opening schools due to infantile paralysis, is re-scheduled for Tuesday night, October 15.

    Frozen foods demonstrations will be conducted all day Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Robinson Market, 114 East Market Street, while introducing the new frosted foods cabinet recently installed, which has a storage capacity of 720 packages. First 200 youngsters accompanied by parents will be given free Eskimo pies.
