10 Years AgoJesse Warner, a first-grader at South Whitley Elementary, was the top fundraiser at the 26th Annual Smoothest Bike Ride in the World. Warner raised more than $3,000 in donations and received a matching gift from St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Indianapolis. With the matching gift, Jesse's pledge dollars, in memory of his grandmother, totaled more than $6,400 donated to help fund research to find a cure for diabetes. The Smoothest Bike Rider in the World is a cycling and fundraising event of the American Diabetes Association that takes place every summer at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.25 Years AgoDana Hollar was elected and crowned 1985 homecoming queen for the Hanover College Homecoming week. She was nominated and represented her sorority, Phi Mu. She is a senior presently doing her student teaching in a first-grade elementary school at Madison, Ind. She is the daughter of Dr. Charles and Jackie Hollar, Warsaw.This is the second consecutive year the Hanover College Homecoming queen has been a graduate of Warsaw Community High School. Last fall, Lisa Lemon was elected queen.50 Years AgoJames Aker, Carolyn Hartle, Lynn Maish and Lanny Mauzy, all of Warsaw, are among DePauw University's fall semester enrollment of 2,257. Jim is son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Aker; Carolyn the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Hartle; Lynn the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Maish; and Lanny the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thames Mauzy.75 Years AgoDr. George Harding, who has been residing at Winona Lake during the past summer, has removed into Warsaw for the winter.Joe Watkins of Leesburg left for Washington, D.C., where he has accepted a position with the Burroughs Adding Machine Company.
