25 YearsRic Reichert and his wife, Gail, are marketing paper containers from the old Myers Creamery, North Street in Bourbon, maker of Sweet Rose brand ice cream. A fire in 1949 closed its doors. Myers produced butter (Sweet Rose, Cloverland and City Brand). "The matted and framed butter wrappers add a unique touch to any decor." Cream was delivered to the south dock of the building, dumped into a tank and churned in huge vats until butter was made. Maggie Lemler Reichert Ames and Jennie Cannan, Ric's grandmothers, were employed to handwrap the sticks and blocks. Ice cream was mixed in a small room and cooled in a special deep-freeze room. Ric's father, Wayne, repaired equipment and repainted freezers on occasion. The business was founded by Elmer Myers in the Depression.
