Warsaw Police Department promoted Detective Lt. Steven Adang and Operations Sgt. Larry Engle to lieutenants. Adang was hired Jan. 1, 1983; he oversees five detectives and one civilian clerk. Engle was hired April 22, 1976; he is in charge of 11 civilian employees and ordinance officer Steve Brown.
Dr. Patrick Kavanaugh, professor of music at Grace College and director of the MasterWorks Festival, was a guest speaker at the Presidential Prayer Meeting at the White House.

Homecoming Weekend at Grace College is Oct. 13 and 14: Friday evening features a concert by Christian music artist Larnelle Harris, contact Julie Schumacher for tickets. A basketball game in the gym between alumni and the Lancers begins Saturday activities, followed by the Grace Alumni Golf Scramble at Rozella Ford and a soccer game with Anderson University at Miller Athletic Field. A banquet in the Alpha Dining Commons concludes the weekend.
1989 Wawasee High School Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned at tonight’s home game. Queen candidates are Kimberlee Carmichael, Jenelle Jennings, Kristin Robbins and Darcey Smith. King candidates are Mike Bailey, Chad Cotton, Jason Douglas and Tom Lilly.
Troy Burns and Julie Doron were crowned king and queen during Lakeland Christian Academy’s homecoming activities.

Little Jimmy Coplen and his sister, Sharon, children of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Coplen, 30, displayed their homegrown pumpkins. Two are approximately 75 pounds each; the “smaller” one is only a 55-pounder.
The courtroom of the Kosciusko County Courthouse is being given a rest this week while all the chairs are upholstered with green leather and new light linoleum tile replaces the old brown linoleum.

Preparations are being rushed for Mentone’s annual fair week scheduled the latter part of August. Last year’s fair proved the biggest and best ever and plans call for a much more elaborate fair this year. Additional features include a golden gloves boxing exhibition, promenading the best golden glovers out of Fort Wayne. Arrangements are being negotiated through Herschel Leiter, Warsaw splint manufacturer, who has been responsible for several amateur boxing exhibitions in Warsaw. Efforts are being made to get Raymond Parker, former Warsaw High School football and basketball star, and amateur heavyweight, to spar.
Wilma P. Stockmeyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Stockmeyer, 308 N. Washington St., graduated Aug. 3 from the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago.
