    Two students from Tippecanoe Valley High School recently won first-place honors in a national poster contest dealing with taking a stand against drugs and alcohol.

Wendy Norton, a sophomore, competed in the seven-nine division, and Jennifer Sanders, a junior, competed in the 10-12 division.

October 12 1982

    Trent Biller and Larry Harvey scored goals to lead Lakeland Christian Academy to a 2-1 soccer victory over Elkhart YMCA in LCA's final home match.

Ryan Miller and Biller picked up assists and Cougar goalie Dave Cover turned aside 13 Elkhart shots.

October 12 1957

    Charles Hartman, son of the Everett Hartmans, 416 S. Buffalo St., is secretary of the secretarial council of the Men's Quadrangle at Indiana University. The council is made up of officers from all units in the Quad. A sophomore, Charles is majoring in business administration.


75 Years Ago

October 12 1932

    Degrees were conferred on four candidates at the meeting of Warsaw Chapter No. 48 Royal Arch Mason. Both the Mark Master and Past Master degrees were conferred. Candidates who received the work were: Lloyd Summe, Burket; William Fenstermaker, Mentone; and George Bowser and Fred Hall, Warsaw. They, together with four other candidates, Charles Essig, William Rush, Karl Weick and William Riner, will go to Indianapolis, where they will receive the Most Excellent Master degree.
