Ken Stenstrom, Palestine Lake, admired his strawberries on the first day of autumn. Strawberries usually bear fruit in June, but the unusually warm weather recently had given his berries a second life.
Town and Country Garden Club of Warsaw will present a program on “Winterizing Perennials, Garden Tools and Planting Spring Bulbs” in Meeting Room C of the Warsaw Community Public Library. Officers are Monica Braman, treasurer, and Jeanette Fenton and Evelyn Reynolds, co-presidents.
This year’s sixth annual Camp Mack Festival Oct. 2 will feature Dead 2 Self, a Christian rock band. Proceeds from the festival provide scholarships for summer campers. More than 15,000 persons come through the many camps each year.

Joe Dock, Warsaw, has been named superintendent of Hoosier Water Co. Inc. He has been employed in the water industry the past 12 years and replaces Carl Norwood. Fred Dorell, Warsaw, who joined water utilities as a meter reader, received his 30-year pin from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management for water services.
Neal Carlson, First National Bank, Warsaw, presented Robin Weissert of Robin’s Nest Framing and Decor a commendation for  appropriate signage for her business at 117 W. Center St. Warsaw Community Development Corporation recognized businesses for meeting national Main Street guidelines for building improvements.
United Telephone of Indiana’s Lowell Sharp, Warsaw, office services supervisor, has retired after serving for 20 years. He began as a pressman in the graphics department.

Under provisions of a new law in 1959, Warsaw Community Schools Superintendent Carl Burt was informed by the state commission on consolidation that approval of the plan to merge Clay and Lake Township schools with the Warsaw School System will be given next year so that the schools will consolidate on Jan. 1, 1966. Warsaw Senior High School will add 15 additional rooms when the schools consolidate.
Madison School PTA will sponsor a Jonah Club fish fry Sept. 12 in the Women’s Building. Norman Hankins is general chairman; Principal William Farrar, serving committee chairman; Pat Hauth, general buyer; and Stanley Stokes, ticket sales chairman.

Gala Night at Pottowatomie Gardens, Tippecanoe Lake, was July 12 with Joe McCartney and his 15-piece DePauw University Orchestra, featuring the Ross Twins in beautiful harmony and Jack Campbell, the songbird from Palm Beach, Fla., known over all NBC stations. Admission was 40 cents. Last year, Mary Jane McKown and her dance pupils presented a floor show.
Councilman Karl Topp stressed during the city meeting that the firemen are in need of ladders.
Tommy Hay took a 6-pound channel catfish from the Tippecanoe River near Atwood. When you catch a fish, examine its gills. It may be a Times cash prize winner with their tag on it. Hay won, but 19 are still on the loose.
