In an effort to enhance the Lake City Greenway, the Kiwanis Club of Warsaw has provided a shelter on property owned by Kosciusko County Historical Society for users of the Greenway and Tippecanoe Rest Park. The Kiwanis Club recently received a grant for more than $2,000 from Kosciusko County Foundation to complete work on the shelter. The Chinworth Bridge is the trailhead, or start of the Greenway. The Kiwanis shelter at the trailhead can be used for picnics or for shelter during inclement weather. The shelter will accommodate 25-40 people.

Warsaw bowler Lee Nichols received his first ring from the American Bowling Congress in honor of rolling a 299 at Country Club Lanes in Elkhart. Nichols had the near-perfect game June 28, while participating in the White River Park State Games sectional. Presenting the award was Jim Landis, secretary of the Warsaw City Bowling Association.

Figures just released by Blue Cross show that an increase in the length of hospital stay amounting to less than one-tenth of a day per patient cost all patients in Indiana $1.2 million last year. The average stay throughout the state went up from 7.86 days per patient to 7.96 days. Average stay at Warsaw’s hospital - Murphy Medical Center - well below state average, figures 5.2 days per patient. This seemingly insignificant difference of 2.7 days per patient saved local patients more than $100,000 last year.

Mrs. J. Fred Beyer, Mrs. Carl F. Beyer and Mrs. Carl Bolton have returned from German Valley, Ill., where they visited with the Rev. Albert Beyer. The trio also spent three days visiting in Chicago.
