    An Indiana State police trooper will be honored by the Fourth Annual TOPS COPS Awards.

The National Association of Police Organizations announced that Trooper Thomas K. Littlefield, Warsaw, is the honorable mention award winner and will be attending the TOP COPS Awards Ceremony at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C.

    Awards recently were given in the Rozella Ford Golf Club 18-hole women's association. They were Marj Neville, A flight and handicap tournament winner; Helen Miller, B flight winner; Imy White, C flight winner; Helen Creighton, Finks folly winner; Midge Konkle, handicap runner-up; Val Finkenbiner, A flight runner-up; Lynn Caraway, B flight runner-up; Bernice Graham, C flight runner-up; and Diane Savage, Owens handicap tournament winner and most improved.

October 10 1957

    Max Spann, a Pierceton High School junior, crossed the finish line in 11 minutes, 24 seconds, ahead of a large field to capture individual honors while Syracuse won the team title in the Kosciusko County cross-country meet.

It marked the first county cross-country meet ever held.

    News From The County - Amanda King of Pierceton spent last week at the Virgil Sellers home and helped make apple butter.
