10 Years AgoWarsaw native Lori Miller will compete for the U.S. Paralympic Team in tandem cycling. She will compete in four events - the kilo, sprints, the pursuit on the tracks and the road race. Miller, who has been blind since age 2 due to retina blastoma, will spend approximately three weeks in Sydney, Australia, where the games will be held this year. More than 4,000 athletes will participate in the games. Her first event is Oct. 19. She will ride with a pilot from Seattle.25 Years AgoWarsaw's boys tennis team staged a repeat at Peru, taking the IHSAA sectional tennis crown for the fourth straight year, with a 5-0 win over Northern Lakes conference rival Rochester. Next for coach Joe Beeson's crew is regional action at Peru against Lafayette Jefferson. 50 Years AgoHundreds of spectators attended the dedication ceremony at Warsaw Municipal Airport. The main speaker was Col. Roscoe Turner. They enjoyed a fine air show and saw the airport renamed "Parker Field" in honor of longtime Warsaw electrician and aviation board member Earl Parker. "Parker Field" is now one of the most modern airports in the midwest for a town of Warsaw's size.75 Years AgoApproximately 100 neighbors and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Alton Boggs, newlyweds, surprised them recently at the home of the former's parents parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton Boggs, southeast of Warsaw. With firecrackers, bells and horns, the couple was given an old-fashioned belling. Candy was served to those present.
