10 Years AgoMark Sanders was honored last week by the Kiwanis International Foundation when he was awarded the George Hixson Fellowship. Hixson was the first president of Kiwanis International. The award is for those who show outstanding work in a given field. Sanders joined the local Kiwanis Club April 1, 1967, and was president of the club in 1973. He has participated in many activities through the years.25 Years AgoMike Bergen and Kristin Johnson, employees of the new Noble Romans restaurant in Warsaw, recently launched 10 balloons with a note and coupon. A few days later, they received a letter from Homer E. Miller in Lima, Ohio. The balloons had floated 140 miles before they landed in a farm field and were found by Miller's curious dairy cows.50 Years AgoThree Warsaw Cub Scouts - Jack Ellison, Dewey Patterson and Tom Ring, stopped at The Times-Union offices while en route to school, demonstrating that they are urging everyone to vote Tuesday. They and other members of Den 1, Pack 67 were wearing taped "VOTE" signs on the back of their jackets. Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts have responded to a request by President Eisenhower that the Scouts encourage persons to vote. The Scouts also passed out "Be Sure To Vote" posters in Warsaw, from door to door. Jack is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ellison. Dewey's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Dale Patterson. Tom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ring. All three are 8-year-old boys and go to Lincoln School.75 Years AgoMajor and Mrs. Lester Boggs left by auto for California where they will visit friends. They had been guests of relatives in Warsaw for the past month. Major Boggs has been assigned to service with a horse artillery regiment.
