10 Years AgoWinona Lake Lions Club is collaborating with Four Coins Co., Ligonier, to create a poster featuring Winona Lake's businesses. The commemorative poster program is an attempt to capture the spirit, history and business community of a given town through poster art, said Jim McAndrews of Four Coins. Bob Myers of the Lions Club said the posters will be sold at town functions and the money from the posters will go to the Lions Club's state and local projects.25 Years AgoThe Rozella Ford 18 hole golfers that received awards recently were: Helen Creighton, handicap winner; Lottie Bertsch, C flight runnerup; and Nila Mathews, C flight winner; Lynn Caraway, Most Improved award; and Midge Konkle, handicap runnerup. They recently won the county championship with a score of 608. A Claypool team also placed second with a score of 574. It will be remembered that a Claypool team won the national title last year in land judging. Steve Parker was high point man; Hubert Neeley was an alternate. Other team members were: Ronnie Hathaway, Richard Sparrow, coach, and Larry Priser. The second team was made up of Billy Priser, Elmer England, Ray Slone and Marvin Gunter. 75 Years Ago Twenty members of the Emma Breckenridge class of the Winona church were entertained recently with a "kid" party at the home of Mrs. Earl Cochran. Humorous recitations were given by Mrs. Dick Robinson, Mrs. Bob Richards and Mrs. John Rowe. Mrs. Newton Howe conducted an old-fashioned spelling bee. Childish riddles were enjoyed, too. Refreshments were also in keeping with the juvenile party. Pink lemonade, animal crackers and red stick candy were served by the hostesses.
