10 Years AgoIn preparation for its second season in Kosciusko County, Upward Basketball, a youth basketball league that teaches the fundamentals of basketball as well as the Gospel, kicked off the season with its sponsor banquet. With the motto "Every Child a Winner," this youth basketball league will officially get under way Nov. 18 with its evaluation day at the Eisenhower Elementary gym. Advisory council members are Steve Hollar and Jeff Grose, chairman Len Morris and league director Mike VanCleave.25 Years AgoR. Wayne Snider, head of the History and Political Science Department at Grace College, recently returned from a World War II battlefield tour. The tour leader was Charles B. MacDonald, the world's foremost authority on the Battle of the Bulge. They visited war sites in London, Normandy and Remagen.50 Years AgoDaryle D. Hill, of Warsaw, is enrolled at the College of Idaho, Caldwell, Idaho. Daryle is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hill, of Wilmot.Miss Carole Hartle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Hartle, Country Club Drive, Warsaw, is pledge to Delta Gamma Sorority at DePauw University, Greencastle.75 Years AgoOn the occasion of the birthday anniversary of Welcome Wolf, about 40 relatives met at his home recently and gave him a complete surprise. They came with well-filled baskets of food, and all enjoyed a potluck dinner. The afternoon was spent in visiting.
