10 Years AgoOn open water, the new Syracuse Fire Department's Rivercraft, which was recently delivered, can travel at speeds of 40 to 50 miles per hour. On ice, it can reach much higher speeds. The Rivercraft is an 18-foot, 810-pound boat with 120 horsepower and an aircraft engine. It can travel on almost anything - corn, water, ice, snow and grass.25 Years AgoNeal Carlson and his wife, Joy, of Warsaw, are taking a trip across Europe. Neal is president of First National Bank of Warsaw and is also president of the Kosciusko County Historical Society.50 Years AgoThe Warsaw High School cross country team will put its record of five victories against no losses to a stern test when the Tigers travel to Indianapolis for the Southport Invitational. Coach John Stauffer's crew will take on class-A competition for the first time in the Southport affair this year. Running for the varsity will be Norman Grubbs, Dave Perkins, Keith Nelson, Dave Wolkins, John Gawthrop, Jay Benson and either Barry Niemann or Raymond Christian.75 Years AgoWilson Schramm, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schramm, residing west of Warsaw, arrived here from Chicago for a short visit with his parents. Young Schramm is employed in the receiving department of the Cook County Hospital, Chicago.
