Schmidt, the son of Marvin and Marjo Schmidt, Warsaw, spent his second summer in as many years as a "college student." These credits he hopes will apply toward his admission at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.50 Years AgoDick Hyde, one of this city's better bowlers, and a south-paw, rolled the highest single game of the new season last week at Holiday Lanes -- a 287. He got strikes his first 10 frames, but left two pins standing with his first "extra ball." He then "picked a cherry," leaving one of the two pins up for his 287.75 Years AgoMiss Ida May Helminger of Bremen, who was made nationally prominent through the newspapers by her "Old Maids' Convention," which she held several weeks ago at Bremen, is in Warsaw this week visiting the Warsaw fair. Miss Helminger is 70 years of age and has been traveling during this past summer. The "Spinsters' Association of the World" was largely attended and proved to be quite a success.
