10 Years AgoThis weekend's wet and cool weather didn't dampen the community's enthusiasm for two annual outdoor festivals: the Land of Lakes Gathering of the People Pow Wow, held at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds, and Back to the Days of Kosciuszko, held in Warsaw's Lucerne Park. Proceeds from the Pow Wow will benefit Kosciusko County Literacy Services. Baker Boys Club will be gifted with Back to the Days of Kosciuszko proceeds 25 Years AgoTippecanoe Township Extension Club met at the Church of God for their September meeting. The hostesses of the month were Earlene Wright, Dorothea Kurth and Margaret Welker. Vice president, Mary Lee Willman welcomed 26 members and one guest. Mrs. Willman gave the thought of the day from the Bible and Power of Living. Richard R. Long was the guest speaker for the day. He told about North Webster's joint effort to share with the less fortunate through sororities, churches, clubs, business places, individual donations, social organizations, etc. 50 Years AgoDonald Boyd, Miss Mertie Lou Kemper, and Miss Marcia Reed, all of whom live in the Winona Lake area, are among the 436 students who have registered at Roberts Wesleyan College in North Chili, New York.75 Years AgoJames W Riley, former Manchester College all-round athlete, will again guide the destinies of Etna Green High School's basketball team, the purple and white team opening the 1935-36 cage season against Silver Lake. This is Riley's second year at Etna Green, coming to the institution fresh from Manchester where he starred in football, basketball and baseball. His home is Akron.
