10 Years AgoNathan Taylor of the Kosciusko County YMCA recently swam in the Indiana Age Group Long Course Championships in Indianapolis. Taylor advanced to the finals in all the 11- to 12-year-old events he competed in.He also represented Team Indiana at the Central Zone Swim Championships in Grand Forks, N.D.25 Years AgoSherri Allen was officially declared the new Silver Lake Postmaster following swearing-in ceremonies recently. Administering the oath was William Brown, sectional center manager and postmaster at Kokomo. Services at the local post office include two rural routes of 65 miles each, handling approximately 4,000 pieces of mail daily, and 300 boxes. Allen has been a postal employee the past six years. She resigned as postmaster of Lagro two weeks ago.50 Years AgoEleven-year-old Randy Bird, son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Bird, Warsaw, has been trying all summer to get a big one and finally pulled in this three-pound bass on the end of a spinning rod using a small river runt for bait. In fact, Randy was so excited he left his rod at the lake to take the largemouth bass home. He caught it on Pike Lake near the public swimming beach.75 Years AgoThere were 13 separate sessions recently at the annual interdenominational Bible conference, which is being held at Winona Lake. Dr. William Biederwolf, director of the conference, conducted the inspirational hour Thursday morning using as his subject "The Unconscious Loss of Spiritual Power."
