10 Years AgoBurket Fire Department Capt. Claude Swick was presented with a bronze ax for his 39 years of service to the department, 29 years of which he served as captain. The handle of the ax has his name engraved on it."We wanted to let him know how much he means to us," said Kevin McSherry as he presented the ax to Swick. "He's always there, thick or thin. Whenever you're down, he's always there."25 Years AgoMiss Warsaw I, Aimee Kelly, is all smiles after being crowned the 1985 Kosciusko County Fair Queen. She was escorted by her brother, Scott Kelly, before a large gathering in the Shrine Building. Her coronation concluded last week's activities at the 69th fair. Her parents are Jerry and Vivian Kelly, Warsaw. She is a senior at Warsaw Community High School. She was sponsored by the Warsaw Moose Lodge where her father is a member.50 Years AgoThe Rodeheaver Sacred Music Conference, in session at Winona Lake all week, will come to a climax Friday night when the school presents its annual Music Festival in the Billy Sunday Tabernacle.Outstanding artists, teachers and 140 students representing 14 states and Canada will present sacred music at its best, selections from the great oratorios, spirituals and well-known and beloved Gospel songs.75 Years AgoFive Warsaw 4-H Club girls, along with the local home economics instructor, left for Camp Mack on Waubee Lake, near Milford, to attend the state club camp for the week. They are: Doris Hayward, Marjorie Adams, Betty Foster, Margaret Reece and Betty Lou Overmyer. The camp has been conducted for eight summers for vocational boys and girls, aged from 10 to 20, who are members of 4-H clubs. Representatives are expected to attend from Allen, Steuben, Elkhart, Lagrange and Kosciusko counties.
