10 Years Ago(Published in City of Warsaw's 125th birthday edition.) The Opera House was a three-story, one-half block long structure on the southwest corner of Market and Indiana streets. It was built in 1874 and destroyed by fire in 1967. William J. Chinworth then constructed the current building, which was first occupied by Gambles and currently is occupied by Lake City Bank's trusts and investments division.25 Years AgoThe Kosciusko Federated Women's Clubs have recently announced the winners of their 1985 Nursing Scholarships. This year's winners are Amy Ridenour, daughter of Mrs. Aubrey Ridenour of Claypool, and Lori Anderson, daughter of Mrs. Janet Anderson, Warsaw.50 Years AgoWarsaw's sixth annual Pioneer Days celebration on July 22 and 23 will offer more fantastic sidewalk bargains, pageantry, music, contests and entertainment than any observance the city has had since the 1954 Centennial, it was predicted by Max Hull, general chairman. The Pioneer Days festival is sponsored by the retail Merchants division of the Warsaw Chamber of Commerce. Every store will have "barkers" and clerks promoting sidewalk sales and special bargains from morning until 9 o'clock each evening. Many of the salesmen plan to wear Bermuda shorts or "fancy" clothes. Some of the women clerks will be dressed in old-time costumes.75 Years AgoCharles Armington, employee of Robinson's Meat Market, is enjoying one week's vacation. Mr. and Mrs. Armington are spending this week at Hoffman's Lake.
