10 Years Ago1996 Warsaw Community High School and Taylor University May graduate Angie Reed will travel to Mexico in August to teach English, speech and theater at Puebla Christian School, Puebla San Juan Del Rio. Reed has also been accepted as a missionary by Unevangelized Fields Mission, an organization that supports the ministry of PCS. She will teach grades nine through 12 for the 2000-01 school year - 11 months.25 Years AgoThe shuffleboard tournament at the Etna Green Fourth of July celebration drew contestants from such faraway places as Florida and Canada, as well as Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. It seems Bob and Mary White of Etna Green invited their winter neighbors from a trailer park in Whispering Pines Village, Fla., to the event and some 80 people took them up on their offer. Fourteen RVs were parked at the Whites during the week.50 Years AgoWilliam H. James, a teacher at Leesburg High School, has been selected to participate in one of five science refresher programs sponsored by the National Science Foundation this summer at Indiana University. He is taking part in the chemistry refresher program.75 Years AgoThe summer assembly of the Methodist Churches of the North Indiana Conference will open Sunday at Epworth Forest and will continue for one week. The assembly was started several years ago primarily for the older members of the church, but activities for young people are also conducted, among which is a girls' camp. Among the features to be presented is "The Rock," a religious drama, directed by Mrs. May Funk of Warsaw.
