10 Years AgoThe Denny Hepler Future Stars Golf Camp was held recently at Raccoon Run. Those golfers who attended the camp with their places listed in parentheses were: Devan Ostrom (ninth), Ross Trout (sixth), Kristina Cripe (fifth), Tyler Ostrom (third), Curtis Coverstone (first), Josh Miller (second), Scott Boyle (fourth), and Philip England (eighth). Also, Robert Swanson (fourth), Jake England (third), Elise Smolen (second), Kyle Coverstone (first), Geoffrey Morris (seventh) and Alyssa Cameron (10th). Kyle Coverstone, Smolen, Jake England and Swanson competed in the 11- and 12-year-old division, while the rest of the golfers were in the 8- to 10-year-old division.25 Years AgoThis appetizer recipe was published in the 1985 Spotlight Contest for Cheese Ball. 8-oz. cream cheese, softened; 1/2 cup mayonnaise; 2 tbsp. chopped spring onion (include some of the green); 1/8 tsp. pepper; 1 tbsp. dill; 1 small can of bacon bits; 1 can of salted, roasted almonds.Blend together the cream cheese & mayonnaise. Mix in the remaining ingredients, except the almonds, and mix well. Refrigerate overnight (preferably in a bowl that the ball can take its shape from). Dump the ball out of the bowl onto your serving platter and arrange the almonds on the ball. Stacey M. The two-week session offers training in newswriting, editing, photography, business management and other phases of journalism. Sharon, a Leesburg High School senior, will be editor for her school newspaper, Lake Breezes.75 Years AgoMiss Martha Gast recently entertained at her home at Winona Lake with a wiener roast and pot-luck supper. Previous to the supper, canoeing, boating and swimming were the entertaining features, and bowling and skating were enjoyed in the evening. The following were guests of the occasion: The Misses Martha Bechdolt, Marjorie Wilt, Evelyn Ettinger, Ruth Zimmerman, Dorothy Scoles, Herberta Robinson, Berne Dine Rizer, Marguerite Robinson, Mary Jane Griffith and Martha Gast.
