Kenesa Hope Myers, 6, daughter of William and Krisce Myers, Leesburg, was chosen the 56th annual Cutie Queen Friday, and Garrett Ryan Freel, 6, son of Chad and Virginia Freel, Milford, was selected Cutie King. Cutie Pageant contestants compete for $20,000 in educational bonds. The king and queen receive $5,000 each.

Circulation records for the Children's Department of the Warsaw Community Public Library were broken on the first day of registration for the 1986 Summer Reading Program. On June 9, 1,101 items were checked out. Library employees included Ramona Lantz, Carrol Hawkins and Tammy Boggs. Shanda Ward was among  those who signed up for the Summer Reading Program.

A delegation of 17 persons from the Silver Lake community met recently with the Manchester School Board, stating, they were seeking information and considering circulating petitions to withdraw from the Kosciusko county plan and be incorporated in the Wabash county school reorganization plan.
The Silver Lake residents said they were interested in the indebtedness of the Manchester School and the current tax levy.

An unusual social event recently at the Winona Hotel marked the beginning of a very fine summer for Winona. Many Warsaw and Winona friends gathered at the hotel to surprise Mr. and Mrs. James Lucas and their son, James Jr., and to give them a real old-fashioned housewarming. "A Key to Winona," symbolizing friendship and good will, together with numerous expressions of kindness appropriate in rhyme and verse was presented to the Lucas family by Mrs. Howard Scott.
