Two area baseball players will have the chance to show their stuff at  the Junior Olympic Tryouts in Tucson, Ariz. Lance Bailey, a junior at Tippecanoe Valley High School, and Casey Cavell, a junior at Wawasee High School, will take the field for the Mid-America Baseball Association 16 and under team from Indiana.

Shelly Sanders, 18, was crowned Miss Kosciusko in the Kosciusko Scholarship Pageant Saturday night at Tippecanoe Valley High School. A 1986 graduate of Wawasee High School, and the daughter of William and Patricia Sanders, she received a $1,500 scholarship and will represent the county in the Miss Indiana pageant next year. Members of the queen's court are Paula Smith, Milford, first runnerup receiving a $750 scholarship; Keeley Watts, Leesburg, second runnerup receiving a  $400 scholarship; Julia McDaniel, Syracuse, third runnerup; and  Julie Gilson, North Webster, fourth runnerup.

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Baugher, of near North Webster, are attending commencement exercises in Detroit, Mich., for their granddaughter, Emily Jane Baugher, who is graduating from Western High School in Detroit. Emily is graduating summa cum laude from a class of 230. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Baugher.

George Hatfield has returned to Winona Lake to spend the summer with his father, V.M. Hatfield. He has just completed his sophomore year at Wooster College, Wooster, Ohio.
Paul Leiter has returned to Warsaw from French Lick, where he attended a druggists' convention for several days.
