10 Years AgoThe Tippecanoe Environmental Lake and Watershed Foundation received a $5,000 grant from the NiSource Environmental Challenge Fund recently. The money will be used to purchase biologs, wetland plants and prairie grass for the Foundation's Hanna B. Walker/Henwood Creek restoration project on CR 650N, on the north side of Tippecanoe Lake. Since 1995 more than $194,937 has been given to various projects in the state 25 Years AgoThis recipe is from the Spotlight Recipe Contest: Sweet And Sour Meatballs1 lb. ground chuck; 1 lb. sausage; 1 cup soft bread crumbs or oatmeal; 2 eggs, slightly beaten; 1/2 cup milk; 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped. Sauce: 1 can crushed pineapple; 1/2 cup brown sugar; 1/3 cup catsup; 1/3 cup vinegar; 1/8 cup soy sauce; 1-1/2 tsp. ginger; ground black pepper. Mix together crushed pineapple, brown sugar, catsup, vinegar, soy sauce and ginger. Add pepper to taste. Heat thoroughly. Prepare meatballs: Combine ingredients and shape into balls. Bake in a shallow pan at 400 degrees for about 30 minutes, or until they are well browned and slightly crusty. Top with above sauce; keep hot. Makes about 50 small balls. Barbara A. McClintic, Milford50 Years AgoTeen models for the 4-H Fashion Clinic conducted recently at Madison School were: Karen Freed, of Silver Lake; Jo Ann Royer, of North Webster; Judy Hoffer, of Warsaw; Sally Albert, of Leesburg; Beth Coble, of Pierceton, and Jeannine Witham, of Atwood. Planned to help 4-H girls prepare for the annual dress revue, the clinic included lectures on a good basic wardrobe, selection of suitable accessories, posture, fabrics, modeling and grooming.75 Years AgoJohn Gochenour, who attended college at Cambridge, Mass., arrived home recently to spend the summer with his parents, attorney and Mrs. Merl Gochenour.
