10 Years Ago The Warsaw Community Public Library Board of Trustees said goodbye to two-term member Irv Lindemuth, as the former Coast Guardsman resigned his eight-year assignment. A county commissioner appointee, Lindemuth termed his service "a great privilege and a pleasure." The retired engineer was presented a plaque for his work, which was especially appreciated during the library's recent construction. 25 Years Ago Two holes may need to be filled in local government and the school system with the announcement recently that Jerry Seese has been hired by the Mishawaka school system. Seese, 46, Warsaw, was named as assistant superintendent of curriculum, evaluation and secondary education at Mishawaka. He will start July 1. He has served with the Warsaw School System since 1982, when he was hired as high school assistant principal. 50 Years Ago Five local teachers have announced their retirements after a combined total of 197 years in the teaching profession. They are Miss Turai Haldeman, first-grade teacher at Madison School, 43 years of service; Miss Mary Riley, first-grade teacher at Washington School, 37 years; Miss Florence Gerlach, fourth-grade teacher at Lincoln School, 37 years; Miss Beatrice Riley, second-grade teacher at Washington School, 41 years; and Mrs. King Howard, the former Mildred Mendel, third-grade teacher at Adams School, 39 years of service. Mary and Beatrice Riley are sisters. 75 Years Ago Mr. and Mrs. Carl Shinn recently went to Lafayette. They were accompanied home by their son, Robert, student at Purdue University, who will spend the summer in this city. Miss Winifred Sanders and Roger Sanders, students at Hanover College, have returned to Warsaw to spend their summer vacations with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sanders.
