Ian Fawley is valedictorian for Tippecanoe Valley High School’s class of 2001, and Justin Weaver is salutatorian.
Fawley, the son of Jay and Lisa Fawley, North Manchester, and formerly of Akron, plans to attend Ball State University and major in geography.
Weaver is is the son of Steve and Teresa Weaver and plans to attend Taylor University, Upland.

Douglas A. Flory, of Leesburg, received a scholarship certificate from Richard Rosser, president of DePauw University, at a recent ceremony honoring scholarship recipients at the university. Flory, a senior at Warsaw Community High School, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Flory, Leesburg. Flory received a Vadia Hall Scholarship. At Warsaw Community High School, Flory is an Academic All-American, a listee in Who’s Who Among American High School Students, and involved in student government. He plans to major in pre-medical science.

Legionnaires of Warsaw did a little something extra on Memorial Day that the majority of spectators failed to see, when, during the parade, they stopped at 540 E. Main St. and the honor guard paid a special tribute to Chris Gilbertson and George Loveday. The two Spanish-American War veterans were watching the marchers from Mr. Gilbertson’s front porch and were unable to participate in the parade for physical reasons.

Misses Martha, Violet, and Louise LeHew, Alpha Faris and Esther Pfleiderer, and Mrs. Otto Miller will leave Sunday for an extended trip. They plan to go to California by the southern route stopping in Pawnee, Okla., to visit with Dr. LeHew. On their return they will come by the northern route.
