10 Years AgoWarsaw track and field coach Troy Akers flashed a smile as wide as a Greg Seiss stride in an 800-meter run. "Greg doesn't know it yet," Akers said, "But he's walking away with every major award at the senior sports banquet."The banquet came and went, and as Akers predicted, Seiss won four awards. The Warsaw senior athlete earned the Fisher award, given to the most outstanding football player; the Max Truex Award, given to the top track/cross country athlete; the Marjorie M. Moore Award, a basketball mental attitude award he shared with Chris Rhodes and Jon Walmer; and finally, the Pete Thorn Award, an award he shared with Zach Nelson and Gabe Koser for being a three-sport athlete.25 Years AgoSteve Grill, an original member of Grace College's soccer program when it was formed in 1966, has been tapped by school officials as the Lancers' next head coach. Lana, who was a cheerleader her junior and senior years, enjoys all forms of sports and dancing. She was assistant editor of the school yearbook, "The Tiger". Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. John Pinkerton, Warsaw.75 Years AgoApproximately 400 persons were present at the Warsaw Park pavilion for the opening night of the WLS barn dance show, under the auspices of the Jolly Homemakers' Economics Club, personally directed by Miss "Pat" Griffith, of the WLS staff. The stage was arranged like the 8th Street Theatre in Chicago, with 120 bales of straw. It was further decorated with harnesses, lanterns, milk pails and other hardware. Talent from all the towns in this vicinity was given.
