Bob Sanders, co-owner of Bodkin Abstract Co., Warsaw, was recently named a Kentucky Colonel. Don Sloan, senior business consultant with Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corp., presented Sanders with the award. Sloan nominated Sanders for the award because Sanders and  his wife Sharon “were really involved in many charitable activities in the state and county. Bob has not only given of his time personally, his business has also been a model corporate citizen.” The highest honor awarded by the Commonwealth of Kentucky is that of Kentucky Colonel.

Mayor Jeff Plank contributed the first dollar to the annual Knights of Columbus “Tootsie Roll Drive” to raise money for the Cardinal Center and the Kosciusko County Special Olympics. Those involved with the fundraiser are Mrs. Maxine Burcham, Kosciusko County coordinator for Special Olympics; Jerry Kralis, co-chairman; Ray Dryer, co-chairman. The Tootsie Roll Fund Drive this weekend will conclude with the “Classic Car Centre $10,000,000 Cruise” at the fairgrounds.

Two Kosciusko seniors at Manchester College were awarded graduate assistantships for study in graduate school. David Kinsey, Silver Lake, and James Warner, South Whitley, were awarded graduate assistantships to begin studies next year. Both are seniors at Manchester College.
Kinsey is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Kinsey, Silver Lake, and a graduate of Silver Lake High School. He received an assistantship in mathematics for study at the University of Arizona. Warner is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard E. Warner, South Whitley, and a graduate of Pierceton High School. He received an assistantship in biology for study at the University of Wisconsin.

The plant of the Winona Milk Products corporation, a firm which has leased the old Pango buildings, is now in operation and promises to be one of the prosperous industries of the city. P.D. Parks, the president, reports that he received his first order for his chocolate-flavored preparations from the Baker Chocolate Company for 10,000 cases to be delivered during the coming season.
