Kosciusko Literacy Services recently recognized volunteers who have spent 100 or more hours tutoring students. The volunteers received gift certificates to On Cue. Those involved with the program were: Kathy Hamman, director of public relations for KLS; volunteers Carol Kloser, Grace Abbott, Don Chilcote, Carolyn Fleck and Marine Holmgrain; and Brenda Rigdon, executive director. Also recognized was Allan Robb.

Chad Hopkins and teammate Rick Littlejohn go one-two for Warsaw in the finals of the 100 during the Northern Lakes Conference track meet at Fisher Field recently. The event was one of three one-two finishes for the Tigers en route to a team championship and a share of the NLC track title with Plymouth.

Dr. Leonard Breen, director of gerontology research at Purdue University, will be one of the principal speakers at the Westminster Hotel, Winona Lake, during a daylong conference on housing needs of older citizens.
"Living Longer and More Effectively - Its Implications for Housing," is Breen's subject and the conference theme. Open to the general public, the conference is sponsored by the northeast community organization committee of the Indiana State Commission on the Aging and Aged and the Warsaw-Winona Lake Council of Women's Organizations. Mrs. Floyd Overmyer, Warsaw, is local arrangements chairman.

Workmen repairing state highway No. 14 near the Charles Raber farm west of Silver Lake discovered remains of an old corduroy road and a tile ditch built across the road 35 years ago by David Teeter, now deceased.
Finding the highway had sunk near the Raber farm, workmen dug down a few feet and found the highway at this point undermined with water as the 16-inch tile ditch had broken down.
