10 Years Ago Dana Clousing and Matt Klaassen recently were admitted to Manchester College as recipients of the Presidential Scholarship, a $7,000 award to first-year students who are selected from the most outstanding applicants for admission each year. Clousing is the daughter of Jim and Tina Clousing, North Webster. Klaassen is the son of Mark and Sue Klaassen, Syracuse. 25 Years Ago Warsaw’s commitment to downtown revitalization has received a major boost from the Indiana Department of Commerce that could result in increased exposure and additional development, officials say. Lt. Gov. John Mutz was scheduled to appear in front of the downtown mural at the corner of Indiana and Center streets. He is expected to announce Warsaw is one of the two top “partnership cities” of the Main Street program. Warsaw and Greencastle are to be named the top two within the 12-city tier of the program, according to local officials. 50 Years Ago Members of the Kosciusko County Medical Auxiliary announced that Miss Evelyn Tschetter, Warsaw High School will receive their 1961 scholarship. She will be honored at their third annual scholarship tea May 17 at the home of Mrs. George Schlemmer, Warsaw. Miss Tschetter is the eldest of eight children in the family of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Tschetter, Winona Lake. She has been accepted for training in the Parkview Memorial Hospital School of Nursing at Fort Wayne. 75 Years Ago Approximately 1,500 persons attended the closing episodes last night of the Mentone Egg show. The show, first of its kind ever staged in the county, was a success due to the untiring efforts of Royce Tucker, Mentone. Lowell Knoop, 11-year-old blonde boy, was the hero of the show, carrying off the honors in his own class, in addition to winning the sweepstakes over all other entrants in the exhibit. The youngster was awarded two silver loving cups and a bicycle.
