Conservation officers today were making plans to check the area between Roads 800 and 900 South, on the County Farm Road, after Mrs. Robert Merkle reported that she found bear tracks in the yard of her home.
She told Sheriff Sam Holbrook that the tracks were left in snow remaining from last Sunday’s blizzard. The sheriff said there was also other evidence that a bear had been in the area.

Warsaw and  Kosciusko County have the past 48 hours experienced some freak weather changes. Sunday there was a cold wind and in the morning icicles, in the pits of the Western Sand and Gravel Co. near Winona Lake, were six to eight inches long.
Thermometers in Warsaw Monday morning registered 55 to 60 degrees. Indications are that the cold spring days of the past four or five days are now ended.
