His grandmother, Izzy Zimmerman, and aunt and uncle, Dave and Peggy Zimmerman, still live in the Warsaw area. 25 Years Ago This recipe is from the Spotlight Recipe Contest for Cherry Special: 2 small pkgs. cherry jello; 2 cups boiling water; 20 oz. can crushed pineapple; 1 can cherry pie filling. Topping: 8 oz. Philadelphia cream cheese; 1/2 cup sour cream; 1/2 cup sugar; 1/2 cup nuts. Dissolve jello in boiling water. While still hot, add crushed pineapple and cherry pie filling. Chill until set. Mix topping ingredients and spread on top of jello mixture. Kathy Stanley, Warsaw. 50 Years Ago The climax of National Boys’ Club week found L.N. “Pete” Thorn, director of the Baker Boys’ Club in Warsaw, presenting a new basketball to Bob Hile, and a used one to Darrell Phillips. They were winner and runner-up, respectively, in the basketball tournament championship games played this week. In a fine gesture, Hile said he intends to give the ball back to the boys’ club because he is entering the armed services in June. 75 Years Ago Miss Jane Clark of Warsaw, Miss Marian Sharp of Milford, Ned Tarman and Howard Warner of New Paris were in Chicago. They spent time at the Trianon, where Kay Kaiser and his orchestra were featured. Miss Dolores Smith, Bill Pittenger, Miss Bette Mikesell and Floyd Funk are among the Warsawans who heard Anson Weeks and his orchestra at the Palais Royle, South Bend.
