10 Years Ago Had she been asked a year ago about writing a book, Michelle Bormet would have said "no way." Well, that's all changed as Mayor Ernie Wiggins' secretary is wrapping up a 200-page titled "A History of Warsaw - Preserving the Past for the Future." It all began when Bormet researched information on Warsaw's 22 mayors since 1975, to include on the city's website. "I just started accumulating stuff," she said of the project. Portions of the biographies collected about the mayors were published by the Times-Union in observation of Warsaw's 125th anniversary. 25 Years Ago Chris Kehler, once a standout wrestler at Warsaw Community High School and now a second-year law student at Valparaiso University, was practicing to defend his all-Valpo University wrestling title recently when he suffered a dislocated left shoulder that required surgery. Kehler, whose father, Doug Kehler, works in the public relations department of United Telephone, plans to take his bar exam this summer. 50 Years Ago Miss JoEllen Hartman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hartman, Warsaw, has been named as the South Bend - Mishawaka "Community Ambassador" for 1961. She will leave in June on a three-month good will mission to some foreign country, probably one in South America. Miss Hartman teaches home economics and business courses at Penn High School. She graduated from Warsaw High School in 1955 and Ball State Teachers College in 1959. 75 Years Ago Miss Elizabeth Thompson and Miss Mary Eherenman of this city left for Deming, N.M., where they will visit with Miss Christine Widaman, formerly of this city. They are motoring to New Mexico and plan to be gone for the next two weeks.
