The Stonehenge Wednesday afternoon ladies bridge winners were: Dory Wright, Dorothy Sweeney, Maxine Harris and Kathleen Martin.
The mixed bridge winners were: Dale Wright, Bob Steele, Elaine Loser, Nancy McNoldy, Isabol Pfieffer, Lynn Corbett, Dory Wright, Kathleen Martin, Elaine Call and Janet Oberlin.

Students at Jefferson Elementary School recently published the first edition of the Jefferson Chronicle, which is part of the new Program for Academic and Creative Enrichment. Students involved in the PACE program and the student paper are: Renee Fowler, Jon Black, Sean Pabst and Cher Buckler. Also, Marisa Merritt, Andy Hines, Justin Clutter, Rick Glass, parent advisor; Janice Torrence, PACE teacher, Heather Glass and Jenny Bond. Students also toured The Times-Union as part of their studies.

Kathleen Rood, 11-year-old sixth-grade pupil in the Pierceton school, won the countywide fifth-sixth grade spelling contest for the second consecutive year. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Rood of Pierceton. Kathleen correctly spelled “emissary” after the word was missed by Stanley Hoyt, also 11. He is a sixth-grade pupil in the Jefferson school, part of the Warsaw Community Schools system. Stanley is the son of Rev. and Mrs. C. Lowell Hoyt. After spelling “emissary,” Kathleen wrapped up the title by correctly spelling “coupling.”

Mrs. George Mollenhour, Alice Ellsworth, Charlene Lathum and Flo Mollenhour, of Mentone, and Mrs. Emmett Miller, of Warsaw recently spent time in Fort Wayne. Miss Lathum, Miss Mollenhour and Miss Elsworth took part in the Easter cantata, “The Prince of Life,” by the Mentone Baptist Choral society, which was broadcasted over WOWO.
