10 Years AgoHoosier Basketball Magazine has announced its top 40 boys seniors for the 1999-2000 season. These players were selected from approximately 1,600 players statewide.Warsaw Community High School's Chris Wiggins has been selected as one of 10 alternates for the Top 40 Workout. WCHS boys basketball coach Al Rhodes is among six coaches invited to assist Indianapolis Pike's Alan Darner.25 Years AgoDigging for the Kosciusko County Veterans War Memorial has begun on the courthouse lawn. The war memorial will be dedicated at a special ceremony May 26 on the courthouse lawn. Those making preparations for the monument site are: Dennis Reeve and Art Bushin, of the Nursery Stop Garden Center, and Lise Rose and her mother, Deloris Rose, chairman of the Kosciusko County Veterans War Memorial Committee.50 Years AgoA recipe for apple cheese salad, which Betty Jo Hauser, Akron, submitted in the 1960 Junior Cook contest sponsored by Kroger-Westinghouse, brought a reward of four LP record albums. In addition, her home economics teacher, Martha Shireman, will receive a transistor radio, and her school an electric mixer. Betty Jo's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hauser.75 Years AgoWinners of first place in the Kosciusko County oratorical and declamation contest held recently in the Syracuse High School were Jeanette Strayer, Claypool, in the oratorical contest, and Delta Deane Doran, Burket, first winner in the declamation contest. Both the Claypool and Burket schools will be holders of the silver cups because pupils of these schools won first place.
