Miner Lumber Co., West Jefferson Street, officially closed down after approximately 90 years of service.William Miner opened the business around 1910. Under his ownership, the business flourished. Around 1915 Miner Lumber Co. was named the largest employer in Kosciusko County.25 Years AgoThe 1984 Warsaw Tigers state championship boys' basketball team members were honored by the Indiana General Assembly when they made an appearance in the state house recently. They were honored in the Indiana House of Representatives and then the State Senate, according to District 18 State Rep. Thames L. Mauzy.50 Years AgoMr. and Mrs. Bazil O'Reilley, Warsaw, were in West Lafayette over the weekend to attend a concert by the Indiana inter-collegiate band. Nancy O'Reilley, of Indiana University, was a member of the band. So was Richard Carson, of Indiana Central College, son of a former Warsaw minister. The director was Frank Tiersol, Iowa.75 Years AgoA member of the city council said that 15 to 20 men had volunteered to tear up the tracks of the Winona Railroad Co. on East Center Street, if the management failed to agree to making improvements costing $5,000 which is necessary before the state will pave this thoroughfare free at a cost of $90,000.The majority of the citizens are backing Mayor C.C. DuBois and the majority of the city council in refusing to compel Warsaw taxpayers to pay $5,000 needed for the improvement which should be made at the expense of the railroad company.
