Jaymie Westafer, Bourbon 50 Years Ago Jerry Howard, 12-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Howard, Warsaw, had a happy “thank you” for members of the Warsaw Lions club who presented him with a portable television set. Jerry was critically injured the night of Feb. 2 when a passenger train struck an auto he was riding in near Pierceton. Lions members presenting the TV were Herman Frauhiger Jr., John Spooner and project chairman Lester Davis. A TV antenna will be donated by Ray Able, an Etna Green Lion, and the stand was donated by Thrifty Stores of Warsaw. Jerry was extra happy because he said, “Now I can watch my White Sox this summer.” 75 Years Ago Mrs. E.W. Parker was hostess at a dinner party for the Warsaw High School basketball teams, student managers, Coach George Fisher and Principal Loren Chastain. Mrs. Parker was assisted by Mrs. Byrd Irwin of Leesburg, Mrs. Loren Chastain and Mrs. George Fisher. The high school colors, orange and black, were cleverly carried out in the table decorations at dinner. At each place, tiny nut cups, covered with orange cellophane and tied with black ribbons, were placed. The table centerpiece was a large black dish, lined with orange cellophane and filled with small basketballs as favors. These basketballs, when opened, contained mints.
