10 Years AgoWinners of the Kosciusko County Solid Waste Management District "Earth Day Eggstravaganza 2000" design-a-t-shirt contest were presented with their prizes recently. The winners were: first place, Jessica Luu, third grade, Harrison Elementary School; second place, Leah Moore, second grade, Washington Elementary School; third place (tie), Brittany Cross, fourth grade, Mentone Elementary; and third place, Thomas Friddle, fourth grade, Harrison Elementary School.25 Years AgoFifth- and sixth-grade pupils at Silver Lake Elementary School released balloons outside the school last week as part of the national project sponsored by Weekly Reader. Each youngster attached a note with his or her name and address. The child's balloon that travels the greatest distance is eligible to receive $500.50 Years AgoMiss Beverly Baker, of North Manchester, who teaches home economics in Warsaw senior and junior high schools, has been appointed editor of the Indiana Newsletter published by the Indiana Home Economics Association. Miss Baker also will continue to serve as Indiana editor for the Journal of Home Economics, a national publication.75 Years AgoSeventeen seniors will graduate this spring from Etna Green High School. Baccalaureate services will be held, April 21, with Rev. Stacy Shaw as speaker. Commencement exercise will be conducted April 24. Chester W. Warton will be the speaker.
