10 Years AgoAndrea Nichols, a student at Warsaw Community High School, traveled to Washington, D.C., to participate in a Presidential Classroom international conference, the Future World Leaders Summit. Presidential Classroom, a civic education organization, will host the international conference from March 24-31. Nichols is a drum major and member of the WCHS band. She is daughter of Glenn and Patricia Nichols. She plans to attend college this fall.25 Years AgoJustin and Sue Clutter, Winona Lake, browsed through some of the more than 2,000 books remaining at the Warsaw Community Library book sale held recently. Although, the sale was expected to continue for two weeks, surprisingly high sales forced the library to end the event 8-1/2 hours after it began. State law restricts libraries from selling more than $1,000 in books per year. Ron and Sue Clutter and their son, Justin, were the last customers of the sale and were told they could only purchase $4 of books. Most of the books sold for 15 and 25 cents per book.50 Years AgoAtwood American Legion Auxiliary has named Penny Swanson, as delegate to Girls' State. Melodie Bolinger, will be the alternate delegate. Both are active in the school band, chorus, and in Future Homemakers and both had roles in the school junior class play. Penny is also a cheerleader. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Swanson. Melodie's parents are Mr. and Mrs. John Bolinger.75 Years AgoPlans are rapidly nearing completion for the Boy Scout rodeo, which the Scout troops of Kosciusko County will present at the Warsaw Armory on April 1. Among the interesting features of the entertainment, which lasts about one and one-quarter hours, are: a demonstration of first aid to animals, by the North Webster troop; a game, "Sparkplug," by Troop 30 of Warsaw; a barrel sling act by Troop 12 of Mentone and another troop; a clown stunt, by Winona Lake troop; tug-of-war contest, between Etna Green and North Webster troops.
