10 Years AgoAt the Northeast Lakes Middle School Conference wrestling tournament, Edgewood had three champions. They were: Chris Thompson at 125 lbs., Thomas Balestri at 120 lbs. and Tom Lowe in the 115 lb. weight class. Also placing for Edgewood were: third place, Eddy Sanchez; fourth place, Brad Sapper and Blake Deaton; fifth place, Chris Hafterson and Jeremy Blue.25 Years AgoThe Warsaw Fire Department Association recently named the top winners in its annual poster contest for county youngsters. They are: Jeff Roose, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Roose, Milford, $50 winner; Shelly Ulmer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sid Phillips, Warsaw, $50 winner; Tanya Banic, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Banic, Bourbon, $100 winner; and Kim Clase, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Clase, Etna Green, $50 winner. Also present were Tom Feldman, poster contest chairman and vice president of the association, and fire department mascot Blazer, also known as Kenny Shepherd.50 Years AgoPaul H. Gadson and his wife, Ruth, Warsaw, were crowned king and queen of the Shamrock Ball recently at the Elks Club. Approximately 200 persons attended the dance, which was sponsored by Alpha Beta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi and Gamma Chi Chapter of Psi Iota Xi. The royal couple received a large brandy snifter as a memento of the ball. Mrs. Gadson's crown was a sparkling tiara while her husband's was a green top hat.75 Years AgoA conference for Kosciusko County has been called to convene at the First Methodist Episcopal Church, Warsaw. The purpose of this conference is to frankly consider the present situation brought about by the sale of alcoholic beverages in the county and state, and to endeavor to find a remedy for these perplexing and deplorable conditions.
